Types of Cavies
There are sixteen breeds of cavies accepted by the OCC and are as follows:
Smooth Coat
Short hair with no rosettes or ridges
Satin Smooth Coat
Satinized version of the smooth coat
Abyssinian
Coat has a specific rosette and ridge pattern
Satin Abyssinian
Satinized version of the Abyssinian
Peruvian
Long hair with rear rosettes
Satin Peruvian
Satinized version of the Peruvian
Crested
Has a crest on the forehead
Satin Crested
Satinized version of the self or white crested
Silkie
Long hair with no rosettes or ridges
Satin Silkie
Satinized version of the silkie
Teddy
Short and kinky hair
Satin Teddy
Satinized version of the Teddy
Coronet
Long hair and a crest on the forehead
Merino
Long curly hair and a crest on the forehead
Boucle
Long curly hair with rear rosettes
Texel
Long curly hair with no ridges or rosettes
Skinny Pig
Hair is restricted to the feet and face
Cavy Colours
Cavy coat colours accepted when showing your pet. Many variations and colours are seen in cavies though and any coloured cavy, even the hairless ones, make wonderful pets.

Solid silver
Dark Eyes - Black Base with White Tipping and No Belly Band
Brindle
Dark Eyes - Red and Black intermixed
Roan
Dark or Pink Eyes - Any Self, Solid or Agouti color(s) intermixed with white hairs
Dalmation
Dark or Pink Eyes - Any Self, Solid or Agouti color(s) appearing as spots over the animals body
Dutch
Dark or Pink Eyes - Any Self, Solid or Agouti color appearing in a specific pattern broken up by white
Himalayan - pink eyes
Pink Eyes - white with black points on ears, feet and nose
Parti
Dark or Pink Eyes - Any Self, Solid or Agouti color appearing in patches on the animal (excluding black, red and white & black and red)
Tortoiseshell
Dark Eyes - Black and Red in a patched pattern
Tortoiseshell & White
Dark Eyes - Black, Red and White in a patched pattern
Marten
Dark or Pink Eyes - Black, Chocolate, Lilac, Beige or Slate Blue with silver belly and markings
Tan
Dark or Pink Eyes - Black, Chocolate, Lilac, Beige or Slate Blue with tan belly and markings
California
Dark or Pink Eyes - Red, Orange, Buff, Cream or White with Black, Chocolate, Slate Blue, Lilac or Beige points on nose, feet and ears
